Dog Training

Because dogs and people are all different, the results of dog training will vary from one situation to another. Like humans, dogs differ from one another in intelligence, stubbornness, and attention span. What one dog can learn in a day may take another canine 20 weeks of consistent training to master.

If you have tried formal Dog Training in the past, you may have noticed that not all suggestions work perfectly for your dog. A common tip on preventing dogs from chewing furniture is to use tart apple spray. Some dogs go right through that stuff!

Training Your Dog the Right Way
Never forget to consider your own performance in dog training. Did you really sit with your dog for 30 minutes every day for ten weeks, or was it more like three times a week? And when your cute puppy begged for people food, did you give in to his innocent face and give it to him? Be honest!

Although we do not like to admit it, many of our dogs' faults are because of poor training. Masters who like to play rough with puppies are responsible when their dogs eventually snip at children. The dog may think he is just playing, but that is not what the parents of the child will think. Can you really blame a dog for playing rough when his master taught him to wrestle as a puppy?

Dog training not only benefits the owner but also the dog. In the case of a bitten child, the owner may be sued, or the dog might have to be put to sleep. You have a responsibility to yourself, the dog, and everyone else to ensure your dog receives the training he needs. And when done properly and consistently, training can be fun for both dog and owner!
